Thermoforming

Futerro PLA can be easily used to produce a sheet on conventional extruders for the transformation of commodity polymers. Calendering and uniaxial drawing in the machine direction of Futerro PLA do not bring any problem. Conventional equipment can be used to produce sheets and foamed sheets.

These sheets have been thermoformed on equipment traditionally used to thermoform polypropylenes and polystyrenes. This is completed successfully after adjustment of the preheating temperature and the stamping conditions. This type of technique is able to obtain glasses for fresh drinks, recipients for packing food such as fruit, pastries and cakes.

All these thermoformed objects have the following properties:

• Rigidity
• Transparency and gloss
• Oil and fat resistance
• Aroma and taste barriers
• Anti-fog properties
