Bien que le processus de d\u00e9gradation soit le m\u00eame dans le sol, l&rsquo;eau douce et les environnements marins, la vitesse \u00e0 laquelle il se produit peut varier en fonction des conditions environnementales.  <\/span><\/span><span class=\"EOP SCXW122008646 BCX8\" data-ccp-props=\"{}\"> <\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW261570785 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">Le PLA, un plastique biod\u00e9gradable, se d\u00e9grade par des processus naturels, \u00e0 la mani\u00e8re des<span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW261570785 BCX8\"> \u00e9l\u00e9ments naturels tels que les feuilles ou le bois. La structure mol\u00e9culaire du PLA le rend sensible \u00e0 l&rsquo;attaque chimique de l&rsquo;eau (hydrolyse), ce qui signifie qu&rsquo;il subit une hydrolyse et une biod\u00e9gradation compl\u00e8tes, ne laissant aucune particule plastique persistante susceptible de s&rsquo;accumuler dans l&rsquo;environnement. <\/span><\/span><span class=\"EOP SCXW261570785 BCX8\" data-ccp-props=\"{}\"> <\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW93514458 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW93514458 BCX8\">En revanche, les plastiques non biod\u00e9gradables comme le PE, le PP ou le PS, qui ne <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW93514458 BCX8\">poss\u00e8dent pas<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW93514458 BCX8\"> de voies de d\u00e9gradation \u00e0 faible \u00e9nergie telles que l&rsquo;hydrolyse dans les environnements naturels, peuvent lib\u00e9rer des mol\u00e9cules toxiques dans l&rsquo;environnement. Ceux-ci deviennent solubles et peuvent \u00eatre biod\u00e9grad\u00e9s (4). Les micro-organismes absorbent ces oligom\u00e8res et monom\u00e8res comme nourriture (5) et les utilisent pour constituer de la biomasse (6) et comme \u00e9nergie pour leur m\u00e9tabolisme.
