BIOKET 2025

It was a pleasure for our Founder & CEO, Frederic van Gansberghe, to participate in the round table discussion this morning on “Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing for Europe: Building a critical EU future” at BIOKET Bioeconomy Key Enabling Technologies platform 2025, organized by Bioeconomy For Change in partnership with Association Chimie Du Végétal and European Forum for Industrial Biotechnology and the Bioeconomy (EFIB).

This session was a great opportunity to explain how essential it is for the European Union to create opportunities for green chemistry, biobased molecules and materials like PLA and support the chemical industry transition as a whole.

As fertile ground for the bioeconomy, Europe has the potential to reinvent its chemical sector, supporting its ecological transition and fostering the growth of the bio-based industry as recalled in the recently published “Clean Industrial Deal”. One of its key messages: “To move away from fossil materials, it is vital to mandate the use of new raw material sources like recycled biobased materials to substitute, for example, virgin fossil materials in plastics”. Now, concrete actions are needed!
