3rd of June 2025 marked the beginning of EU Green Week, an important annual opportunity to highlight, promote, and debate the latest developments in European environmental policy. This year’s theme: Circular Solutions for a Competitive EU.
At Futerro, we are strong advocates for the recycling of bioplastics such as PLA. We’re actively working toward the development of a dedicated PLA recycling stream, notably through our biorefinery project in France, which by 2028 will include both mechanical and chemical recycling units for PLA-based waste.
In addition, we’re engaged in collaborative efforts such as the Prosper Bioplastics project, which aims to demonstrate the technical and financial viability of recycling bio-based and biodegradable plastic packaging.
In this context, our colleague Geoffroy Delvinquier was pleased to join EUBP Talk #5, participating in a panel on Bioplastics Recycling in the PPWR Era. The discussion focused on how current and future regulatory frameworks, especially the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), are shaping the future of bioplastics recycling in Europe.
A big thank you to all participants for this truly insightful exchange, and of course, thanks to European Bioplastics for organizing this meaningful discussion!
